Leupold & Stevens was founded in 1907 as a maker of survey equipment. The company underwent several name changes and took on additional equipment specialties, such as the first water level recorder, until it adopted its current name in 1942. During World War II, Leupold engineers first developed optical equipment that changed the company into what it is today. Now the company exclusively markets scopes and related optical equipment under the Leupold brand.
Leupold & Stevens is headquartered in Beaverton, Oregon and employs around 700 people in its primary office. The company’s annual revenue is about $160 million.

Mechanical maintenance technicians troubleshoot, problem solve and repair manufacturing equipment at Leupold & Stevens. Technicians rebuild devices as needed and fabricate complex parts using machine tools. They are responsible for disassembly and reassembly of machines and equipment. They are required to document processes and materials used and must be able to multitask. Mechanical maintenance technicians must have a high school diploma or a GED, along with at least five years of experience in manufacturing. They should have a working knowledge or mechanical repair practices, machine operation and hydraulic systems. They should excel at working independently.
Product applications specialists put their technical knowledge to work in order to support marketing efforts. They answer product-related questions, diagnose problems and recommend solutions. They should have excellent people skills, as they are the primary communicators between Leupold & Stevens, distributors, dealers and clients. Product applications specialists must have a high school diploma or GED, along with one or two years of customer service experience. They should know all Leupold products like the back of their hand, and they should have an in-depth knowledge of hunting and shooting equipment and applications.
