Medline Industries Overview
Medline Industries is a private company that manufactures and distributes more than 350,000 different health care supplies around the world. Surgical instruments, adult incontinence pads, surgical scrubs and gowns, wheelchairs, canes and hand sanitizers are all part of the Medline Industries range. Since 1966, the company has served a range of clients including hospitals, physicians’ offices, surgery centers, extended care facilities, dialysis centers and individual consumers. However, the Medline Industries story began much earlier, when the great-grandfather of the current company leader A.L. Mills began to sew surgical gowns for a local hospital in his Chicago home.
Today Medline Industries is managed by the fourth generation of the Mills family. They have helped it grow to become the largest private manufacturer and distributor of medical and surgical products in the United States, employing more than 12,000 staff members in 25 locations around the world. These professionals helped Medline Industries generate $5.8 billion in revenue for the 2013 financial year.
Medline Industries is headquartered in Mundelein, Illinois. It has 40 distribution centers across North America, including premises in Memphis, Tennessee; Havre de Grace, Maryland; Waukegan, Illinois; Minneapolis, Minnesota; and Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. In addition, Medline Industries has 50 international distribution centers, including facilities in Australia, Germany, Denmark, Switzerland, Japan, New Zealand, England and Ireland.
