This work includes training and technical assistance (TTA) provided to the U.S. Department of Justice's Office of Justice Programs' Bureau of Justice Assistance grantees through the Justice and Mental Health Collaboration Program and Second Chance Act, as well as numerous other initiatives, including Expanding First Response, Stepping Up, the Judges and Psychiatrists Leadership Initiative, and States Supporting Familiar Faces. Provide content knowledge to grantees on mental illness, co-occurring substance use disorders, and criminal justice issues, including pretrial release, behavioral health diversion, problem-solving courts, and competency to stand trial, and identification of gaps and strategies for improved collaboration and communication between systems.
