Equine Job Overview

Anyone who enjoys the outdoors and thrives on their environment will be interested in searching the job market for Equine related jobs. Various opportunities exist for the beginner as well as the advanced employee seeking a new job. These jobs work closely with large animals, so applicants should be comfortable around them.

Equine Job Education Requirements

Educational Requirements will depend on the specific job chosen. Equine jobs dealing with grooming, feeding and stable tasks require little to no formal education, though applicants should be comfortable around horses and know how to handle tack. Most knowledge can be learned through on the job training. Horse trainer positions will most often require apprenticeship or experience working on a ranch. Veterinarians will require the most education. Not only is a bachelor's degree required, but a PhD in Veterinary Sciences is also required. Those interested in Equine jobs can often get summer employment in stables or on ranches to begin to develop their skills.

Equine Job Market

This field is extremely competitive and applicants should focus on getting experience to increase their desirability. Agricultural jobs as ranch hands are on a decline of three percent over a ten year period. However, there are still a large number of agricultural jobs available.
