Fundraising Jobs

Fundraising Jobs Overview

Fundraising jobs include positions designed to help an organization raise money. Individuals may work for a faith-based organization, a disease awareness group or for a school or school system. They coordinate volunteers, find people willing to donate money and time and create new ways to bring attention to specific issues and raise money to support that cause. Fundraisers also work behind the scenes of the organization. They design the paperwork and promotional materials for the campaign, determine the goals of the group and look at where the money raised goes.

Fundraising Jobs Education Requirements

Most Fundraising jobs require some type of college education. A college degree in communications, business, marketing or advertising is preferable, but some companies and organizations will hire those with a degree in English or other fields. There are a few colleges in the United States that offer graduate degree programs with an emphasis on fundraising that give students the additional experience they need for the field. Most companies prefer that applicants have some fundraising experience, so applicants can gain through Catholic Charities Jobs and Entry Level Charity Sales Marketing Jobs.

Fundraising Job Market

With the government reducing its spending, many organizations need to raise money to compensate for that loss. Those charities and organizations need fundraising experts ready to help them with their goals. Statistics show that Fundraising jobs will experience a 17 percent growth in the future, which will bring an extra 11,400 jobs into the market.

Fundraising Jobs Salary

Fundraising jobs pay a base salary per hour or per year. Hourly wage earners work for groups and organizations that solicit donations to bring awareness to a specific disease or for a charity, and those hourly wage earners make between $8 and $10 an hour. Colleges and universities hire currently enrolled students to call and ask for donations from former students and graduates, and those employers usually pay slightly more than minimum wage. Organizations that pay an annual salary for its fundraisers can pay its workers close to $60,000 a year. Annual salary earners often work harder than hourly wage workers do, and hourly workers primarily make cold calls only.
