Customer Service Executive Overview


A Customer Service Executive is responsible for providing clients and customers with personalized attention and knowledgeable guidance. These professionals may be responsible for assisting clients with billing and payment questions, resolving service issues, offering information about new products or services available and giving other related types of service to clients. This is generally a front-line position that places the executive as a first point of contact to customers or clients who contact the company. Because of this, a successful executive customer service job applicant may need to have a professional, friendly demeanor as well as a strong desire to serve clients and customers. Professionals may work in job positions such as a client services executive, an account representative and others.

Customer Service Executive Education Requirements


The education requirements of a job applicant for a customer service position may vary significantly from position to position. Some entry-level positions may only require a high school diploma. However, it is more common for employers to request employees to have at least an associate degree or a bachelor’s degree. Generally, the degree may not be required to be in a certain field, but there are some exceptions to this. In some cases, experience in the field may be accepted in lieu of a degree.

Currently, almost 2.4 million individuals are employed in the customer service field, and the sector that employs the largest number is the business services industry. Other top sectors employing customer service executives include insurance, brokerages, depository credit intermediation and employment services. Job growth is expected in this field as the economy continues to expand and new positions are created in various sectors.

Customer Service Representative Salary


The median annual salary for a customer service professional is approximately $30,870. Some of these positions are paid per hour, and the mean hourly rate is approximately $14.84 per hour. Those who earn the highest salary in this field may earn more than $50,000 per year or more than $24 per hour.
