Human Resource Specialist Jobs
Human Resource Specialist Overview
Human resource specialists are responsible for a number of clerical and administrative tasks. These tasks include recruiting, interviewing, screening and placing employee candidates. Human resource specialists at this level are also tasked with compiling and recording personnel records, including employees' addresses, compensation and absences, as well as tracking employee performance and recording any issues. Additionally, human resource specialists handle compensation analysis, benefits negotiations, employee orientation and training, and pension and retirement benefits. Some human resource specialists work in more focused positions that allow them to specialize in one or two aspects of employee management while others are tasked with handling all aspects of employee relations. Human resource specialists can expect to work during normal business hours.
Human Resource Specialist Requirements
In most cases, human resource specialists will need to have a Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Management or a related field. However, each position will have different requirements based on the employer and the responsibilities of the position. Although there is no formal requirement, human resource specialists who have solid computer skills tend to fare better than those who do not because most record-keeping tasks occur in various computer software programs. Additional skills that are beneficial for human resource specialists include active listening, critical thinking and a strong command of the English language, both written and verbal.
