Human Resources Vice President Overview


Human resources vice presidents are responsible for overseeing all of the personnel activities within a company. Their primary focus is to create policies surrounding the hiring and placement of new staff, negotiate rates for benefits offered to employees such as health insurance, and create and enforce policies such as time off, vacation benefits, performance expectations and more. They serve as the main point of contact for executive management members. Human resources vice presidents typically work during normal business hours.

Human Resources Vice President Education Requirements


In order to obtain a job as a human resources vice president, a candidate will need to have a minimum of a master's degree from an accredited college in either human resources or business management. In addition to formal education requirements, successful candidates will have several years of hands-on experience as a human resources manager in a large corporate environment.

Having good listening skills, an aptitude for organization, solid managerial experience and a strong command of the English language, both written and verbal, is essential in order to be able to effectively execute all of the tasks associated with this profession. In addition, an aspiring VP will need to be comfortable using a computer as the majority of their administrative duties will be conducted on a computer.
