Release Manager Jobs
Release Manager Overview
A release manager works alongside the development and marketing teams of a company to ensure that all sections of a campaign line up with a product’s release. A release manager must be skilled with computers and scheduling as they will be working with all departments involved to synchronize the release. Because a large amount of a product’s profit is dependent upon a release manager’s ability, they are highly paid, but they also require a lot of experience. Due to the fact that all companies releasing products need a release manager, it is possible for someone with experience to work across a number of different industries, including technology and mass production.
Release Manager Education Requirements
Release Managers must have, at minimum, a high school diploma although obtaining a degree can be beneficial due to the level of competition this career holds. Computer skills are absolutely essential as well as five or more years of experience working in the industry. Release managers typically take over their position after working alongside a previous release manager in order to understand the issues and problems that may arise with scheduling. In addition, strong communication and leadership skills are required to effectively make all the various departments work together.
Release Manager Job Market
The job availability for release managers is expected to increase by 6 percent by 2022, resulting in an estimated 24,000 new jobs each year. Having previous experience in scheduling releases or the release process of a product can make it that much easier to find work.
Release Manager Salary
Release managers are usually paid quite well for their work, making an average of around $90,000 annually. In some places, that wage can be as low as $46,000; however, in other places, it can be as high as $142,000. The experience of the release manager as well as his or her employer plays a large role in the expected salary.
