For those who wish to ascertain precision-inspection positions, having further experience in this field is essential. Part time quality assurance employees can increase their marketability by studying industrial trades at a post-secondary vocational school and gaining hands-on experience through lab work. Most individuals obtain on-the-job training, which lasts between one month and one year. Training can include note taking, written and verbal communication and reporting and learning about safety requirements. To increase one's chances of advancement, the American Society for Quality provides various certifications, such as the Certified Quality Inspector credential. In order to qualify for certification, individuals need to have several years of experience and pass the qualifying exam. With the proper education and experience, these professionals may become quality control supervisors or a quality assurance auditors.
