Property Management Accounting Coordinator Overview


A property management accounting coordinator generally has a number of accounting functions in a real estate or property management firm. These tasks may relate to data entry for accounts receivable and other related accounting functions. The individual may be directly responsible for handling cash receipts, working with manual billings, processing security deposits and refunds, handling tenant terminations, working with lease abstract and among other tasks. The coordinator may also complete bank reconciliations and make reports for managers and executives. Accuracy is highly important in this position. Professionals in this field may also hold positions for real estate accountants, property management finance representatives and more.

Property Management Accounting Coordinator Education Requirements


The education requirements for a position as a property management accounting coordinator can vary. It is common for employers to require at least an associate degree in accounting or a related field. Some employers may require some experience in an accounting or financial management position. Some job openings may require the applicant to have at least a bachelor's degree. Preference may be given by some employers to those applicants who have earned a higher-level degree. In addition, skills related to the ability to communicate clearly and accurately with accounting and financial management are important. Many of these positions have minimal managerial oversight. Individuals may be required to be self-starters.
