Retail sales associates should have good interpersonal skills, have a comprehensive knowledge of the company they work for and be able to spend hours on their feet.

Those seeking a job in a retail environment need only look as far as the nearest shopping center; almost every retail company employs retail workers in order to keep the store stocked and to sell the products.
Retail usually pays only a minimum wage, but this varies from state to state. In many places, this wage is about $7.25 an hour, but some retail jobs can pay as much as $18 an hour. The average annual salary is about $30,000, but some retail workers are also paid on commission, which can earn them a wage of $60,000 or more per year if they are exceptionally skilled and motivated.
