Army Job Overview

There are quite a few job options available in the area of security within the branches of the Army and Armed Forces. Available positions may include armed security officers, who help protect military officials and leaders of the country. These positions can also lead to careers in law enforcement and other branches of federal protection agencies. Another area of security jobs includes technological security, which might include jobs in IT, protecting classified information from digital intruders. There are also job openings for defense analysts, who can review and compile data to determine whether the security measures are working properly.

Candidates who have interest in facility security can also find job opportunities in this field. Armed forces buildings throughout the country need strict protection from intrusion and attacks, so these positions require higher levels of skills, including handling of classified information, coordinating visits and keeping close watch to ensure that employees follow all safety and security protocols.

Army Job Education Requirements

Most army security jobs require at least a high school diploma. Some of the jobs will offer training as part of the daily tasks, while others will provide additional education opportunities for employees. Higher level jobs might require an associates or bachelor's degree, depending on the job responsibilities and requirements. Law enforcement, and other similar security jobs, typically requires graduation from a police academy in order to begin full-time work.

The job market for army security careers is promising, with many different job options available throughout the country. Candidates who have obtained higher education will be able to find jobs that pay better, but they may also involve a higher level of risk to personal safety. There are quite a few different positions open to those with high school diplomas as well, with room to grow and advance.

Army Job Salary Information

The pay for army security employees varies, based on whether the employee is on active duty or in the army reserves. Those with special skills can qualify for additional pay, and there are allowances paid to those who are on active duty to cover housing, meals, uniforms and other basic living expenses. There is also a bonus structure where employees can earn extra income for participating in various tasks as assigned. Active duty soldiers, army reserve soldiers and officers also qualify for benefits packages, as do their family members.
