Telecommunications Billing Analyst Overview

From cellphones to land lines, a Telecommunications Billing Analyst looks at in-depth data about baseline costs for both vendors and customers. They determine ways to streamline certain telecom lines, such as unused lines at a switching box. In essence, they look for smart ways to save the business money so that the savings can be passed on to customers. Analysts periodically check customer bills for any anomalies and addresses them if they arise. There is a lot of computer work, along with reading long lines of numbers and text to find any overlooked issues. Businesses thrive on higher profits with a detail-oriented Billing Analyst.

Telecommunications Billing Analyst Education Requirements

Because thousands or millions of dollars could be at stake, individuals must have at least a four-year degree. Majors in business, statistics and mathematics are well-suited to a Telecom Billing Analyst position. To be even more competitive in the market, some analysts go on to earn their master's degree in accounting or business. With this graduate degree, Analysts may be promoted to management to oversee other Analysts. This career usually needs a system of checks and balances, allowing more than one set of eyes to analyze the information to avoid mistakes.
