Driver Class B Job Overview


Given the importance of transporting goods, it is no surprise that many companies hire on a team of drivers. These drivers are typically utilized to maintain a logistical network. Class B Drivers may operate on a local, regional or even national basis delivering goods to businesses, government agencies and individuals. A company will typically provide a description of their distribution network and entrust drivers to cover it effectively. Class B Drivers may need to fulfill other roles as well, such as checking inventory and dealing with business associates when making deliveries, so people skills and a good sense of organization are important. A driver will generally spend most of their workday behind the wheel and may have to lift heavy loads.

Driver Class B Job Education


At minimum, most companies will expect their drivers to possess a high school education. Class B Drivers will likely need to be licensed for approval to drive large cargo loads across a few different types of locations, so obtaining the proper certification and maintaining a clean driving record is essential for all applicants.

Employers may require their Class B Drivers to possess the following skills:
  • Ability to use software
  • Familiarity with driving regulations
  • Capable of lifting certain weight amounts
  • Understanding of product needs

Driver Class B Jobs Market


The market for this field has been expanding recently as more companies are starting to enlarge their distribution network through online marketing. Drivers may need to be prepared to head across regional lines and deliver goods to the next destination. People with additional types of classifications on their license may also enjoy Class A Driver Jobs.

Salaries for Class B Drivers can range considerably from $24,000 to $63,000. In general, a driver's salary is based on the amount of experience they have and how much time they can put into the job itself.
