Carnival Cruise Jobs

Carnival Cruise Job Overview

Carnival operates some of the largest and most popular cruise ships in the world. The company hires people experienced in sales, technology and management to work in its offices, but it also hires people to work on its ships. Similar to Caribbean Cruise Jobs and Disney Cruise Jobs, the company needs musicians, vacation planners, activity instructors and kitchen staff. Cruise ship workers ensure that passengers remain satisfied and have all their needs met. They prepare food, provide live entertainment and lead classes and activities on board the ships.

Carnival Cruise Jobs Education Requirements

Carnival Cruise Jobs require spending long hours at sea. While a college degree is mandatory for some jobs working in the company's offices, a high school diploma is suitable for most positions on board the ships. Workers must feel comfortable working with small groups, and most workers also need to have strong communication and personal skills. They need to understand how to talk to passengers and how to work with people from different backgrounds. Carnival and other cruise lines typically offer contracts that run for three months up to six months or longer, and workers agree to remain with the company for that period of time before taking a break or leaving the ship for a trip home.

Carnival Cruise Job Market

The future outlook for Carnival Cruise Jobs is positive. Though the market suffered some problems when travelers stopped taking cruises due to the economy, the market later rebounded. Cruise lines now need workers capable of spending long hours on their ships and working for months at a time. As some view the job as part-time or temporary work, Carnival requires new workers to take over for those who leave for other jobs.

Carnival Cruise Jobs Salary Info

The average salary for a cruise ship worker starts at around $800 a week, but there are some long term workers making $1,000 or more each week. Carnival also offers some contract positions, which give workers a set amount each month. Waiters working on its ships earn between $1,200 and $3,000 a month, which doesn't include any tips earned from passengers.
